​Educators for Socially Responsible Apparel Practices Award for Sustainable Design, International Textile and Apparel Assoc. (ITAA) 2016 Annual Conference,
Vancouver, BC, Canada.


Utilizing the strategy of up-cycling, combined with Chinese cultural inspiration, the purpose of this design was to refashion and add value and significance to secondhand tailored men’s jackets and neckties by creating a feminine dress. By redesigning and making use of these otherwise underused items, they are given prolonged life and increased value. ​

Utilizing the strategy of upcycling, combined with the inspiration of traditional Chinese dress style, Qipao, the purpose of this design was to refashion and add value and significance to secondhand men’s suits and neckties by creating a culturally inspired feminine dress with ornamental details.

​​1st place professional level, 2019 Ohio Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (OAFCS) Pre-conference Design Exhibit, Columbus , Ohio.

Utilizing the strategy of up-cycling, combined with a traditional strip pattern weaving technique, the purpose of this design was to develop a sustainable garment through refashioning and adding significance to secondhand men’s dress shirts, while also creating an origami flower-inspired outfit with innovative surface designs.
